Beyond The Gates

Beyond the Gates Is Serving Us a Spectacular New Take On Young & Restless’ Katherine and Jill, General Hospital’s Nina and Carly and More

We’ve written before about how Beyond the Gates is doing at least almost everything right and putting its CBS sister shows to shame. (Pick up the pace, y’all!) And with our March 17 visit to Fairmont Crest, we realized that the new soap on the block had given us the ultimate gift: an epic rivalry for the ages.

It’s not like we didn’t know that there was no love lost between Dani and Hayley before. But that episode really crystallized the battle lines that were being drawn… in blood. After newlywed Hayley figured out that hubby Bill’s former wife Dani had been messing with their stuff in their home, she didn’t shut down and cower the way she had when the ex from hell was waving around a gun at her wedding.

On the contrary, Hayley marched her tush right over to Dani’s and made it clear that if she pushed, the new Mrs. Hamilton would more than readily shove. “I know you were in my house, bitch,” Hayley said, calling the older woman “entitled” and “petty.” Hayley then ordered Dani to, in essence, get a life — of her own. “Stay far away and stop dwelling on us. It’s only making you look like the pathetic witch that you are.”

It was an exciting scene in and of itself. But beyond that, it left us psyched to see that the powers that be were so shrewd that they were setting us up with an epic rivalry the likes of which we haven’t seen since Young & Restless’ Katherine and Jill fought tooth and nail, since General Hospital turned Nina and Carly loose on one another, since Days of Our Lives made mortal enemies of Sami and Nicole, since Bold & Beautiful had Brooke seduce the first of Stephanie’s family members, since…

Why, since Generations delivered the greatest soap smackdown of all time with its catfight between Doreen and Maya — a battle royale that was penned by none other than Beyond the Gates’ creator Michele Val Jean. Yeah, we knew we were in good hands with this show from day one — and, better yet, hands that aren’t afraid to get dirty! (Watch below.)
