How Dare Martin Richardson Talk to Smitty Like That?

While it hasn’t been revealed how long Martin Richarson (Brandon Claybo) & Smitty Smith (Mike Manning) have been married, Beyond the Gates know & adore their teenage children, Terrell Richardson (Jaden Lucas Miller) & Samantha Richardson (Najah Jackson) but do not know how long Martin & Smitty have been raising them. Soap opera fans do know, however, that Smitty has been the primary caretaker as Ted has been following in his grandfather’s footsteps pursuing politics.

Smitty is a former investigative writer who has been successful & he wants back in. Finally, after much back & forth between he & Ted, Smitty is taking on a new gig & he’s excited. BTG fans were not excited, however, listening & watching Smitty’s husband Martin Richardson berate him about wanting to go back to work & belittling him to make him feel guilty that leaving the house to be productive while they have teenagers is some tragic misstep in parenting.

What responsibilities has Martin had & held as a parent? It seems Martin keeps himself busy by disrespecting Smitty & his political ambitions.

President Martin Richardson, Not Worth the Price

Martin Richardson has a secret that continues to haunt him at increasing frequencies & the only two people who know what it is are his grandparents Anita & Vernon Dupree (Tamara Tunie & Clifton Davis). It’s clear that Martin’s secret is deep & dark, & Anita & Vernon did everything in their power to bury it. Smitty doesn’t know what it is & neither do Martin’s parents, Ted & Nicole Richardson (Maurice Johnson & Daphnee Duplaix). Now, Martin wants to return his grandparent’s favor by running for U.S. President. What in the actual hell?

Anita & Vernon know that if their grandson Martin runs for president, that ‘whatever happened that night’ will be revealed & there will be a price to pay & now they are attempting to brace themselves. How damn selfish can Martin be? He has a great life & he’s protected from whatever damning deed he did. How dare he put himself before the entire Dupree family?

Ted & Nicole Richardson, Supposedly Martin’s Parents

Martin Richardson has spent next to no time with his parents, Ted & Nicole Richardson, since Beyond the Gates hit CBS in February of 2025. In fact, Martin could entirely pass for Vernon Dupree’s son. They have had an extreme bond since day one. Add in the protection Vernon & Anita have provided Martin & Martin wanting to follow in Vernon’s footsteps politically.

Ted & Nicole are absolutely delightful. How is it possible that their son is so selfish overall, condescending to his husband, & thankless to his grandparents for everything they have done for him? Perhaps he needs to spend some quality time with Ted & Nicole, but is it too late?

Martin & Smitty’s Daughter With a Shiny Silver Lining

Beyond the Gates fans across the land got goosebumps when Martin & Smitty’s daughter Samantha Richardson came out dazzling & on point on the runway for the big fashion show/charity event. Cousins Kat Richardson & Chelsea Hamilton (Colby Muhammad & Rhonni Rose Mantialla) were all that & more when they surprised Sam with an opportunity to not only attend the show with them but also to help them, & finally to walk down the runway. Samantha was fabulous & walked it wasn’t her first day.

Even the often grumpy & full-time selfish Martin Richardon was proud & couldn’t contain his warm-fuzzies. He may actually consider prioritizing his family & will hold back on running for President.
